2.        Fundamental research grant (Kiban Kenkyu B) (13.5 Million JPY) from Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) to study “Occurrence and motion mechanism of long runout landslide caused by rainfall and earthquake in pyroclastic slopes”; 3-year study (2019-2021)

3.        Fundamental Research Fundamental research grant (Kiban Kenkyu A) (31.0 Million JPY) from Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) to study “Prediction of Landslide Dam Failure by Piping”; 5-year study (2012-2016)

4.        Competitive research grant from Japan Sabo Technical Center on “Deforming Characters of Landslides under the Effect of Water Level Fluctuation in Three Gorges Dam Reservoir, China”; 2-year grant of 2.0 Million JPY; 2-year study (2009-2010)

5.        Fundamental research grant (Kiban Kenkyu B) (13.4 Million JPY) from Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) to study “Initiation and Motion Mechanism of Submarine Landslides and Their Impacts on Pipelines”; 3-year study (2008-2010)

6.        Fundamental research grant (Kiban Kenkyu B) (12.6 Million JPY) from Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) to study “Landslide Risk Assessment in the Three Gorges Reservoir Due to Large Scale Impoundment”; 3-year study (2006-2008)

7.        Competitive research grant from China Three Gorges University for the study on “Landslide Caused by the Combination Effect of Heavy Rainfall and Water Level Change in Three Gorges Reservoir”; 2-year grant of 3,500 USD; 2-year study (2006-2007)

8.     Competitive research grant from Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics (IRSM-Wuhan), Chinese Academy of Sciences for the study on “Affecting Mechanism of water level change on Reservoir Bank and the Time Prediction of landslide Occurrence”; 2-year grant of 3,500 USD; 2-year study (2005-2006)
