Ruifu Zhang

Position:Associate professor

Degree: Doctor

Postdoctoral Positions | AI × Vibration Control

Annual recruitment: The group plans to recruit 1–2 postdoctoral researchers each year.

Primary research focus: artificial intelligence for vibration control, bringing together structural dynamics, measured data, intelligent algorithms, and experimental validation.

What you may work on:

  • Build AI that understands dynamics: develop physics-informed and data-driven models that are interpretable, reliable, and transferable across vibration scenarios.

  • Turn vibration data into control decisions: use experimental and measured data for state identification, parameter inference, response prediction, and intelligent control.

  • Move algorithms from code to experiments: integrate new methods with vibration-control and monitoring experiments, completing a full model–code–experiment–assessment loop.

  • Develop an independent research profile: lead a focused scientific question and produce high-quality papers, reusable code, software or patents, while collaborating across mechanics, control, and AI.

Candidate profile: Applicants with doctoral training in civil or structural engineering, mechanics, control, computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field are welcome. Experience in machine learning, scientific computing, signal processing, structural dynamics, or experimental research is particularly valued.

Research environment and development: The position sits at the intersection of AI, structural dynamics, and vibration-control experiments. The emphasis is on methods that are physically meaningful, experimentally validated, and ready to become reusable research or engineering tools. Postdoctoral researchers are encouraged to shape a distinctive research direction and expand interdisciplinary collaboration.

Appointment: Eligibility, appointment procedures, and benefits follow the current policies of Tongji University and the relevant postdoctoral programme.

Application: Please send a CV, representative publications or other research outputs, a research plan, and the expected starting date to zhangruifu@tongji.edu.cn. Suggested subject line: “Postdoctoral Application – Research Area – Name”.
